This year, for the second SkyTab Rescue Mission, we took it up a notch. Now, we’ve selected 5 winners, awarding a total of $100,000 in business grants!

Meet the Winners of the 2024 SkyTab Rescue Mission!

We’re so proud to announce the well-deserved winners of the 2024 SkyTab Rescue Mission. Learn more about each winner’s business and find out how a Rescue Mission will help them take their business to the next level.

Dragonfly Cafe

Dragonfly Cafe It’s a classic story: following your dream and opening your own business. When Mallory opened Dragonfly Cafe in Milford, Nebraska, she was bringing her version of that story to life. Previously working as a teacher alongside her husband, she left that career to focus on her dream cafe and coffee shop full-time.

Now, Mallory is “filling lives with coffee, specialty drinks, culinary creations” at Dragonfly Cafe. But it hasn’t come easy. Dragonfly Cafe applied for a SkyTab Rescue Mission to help them continue growing and serving their community. Their back-of-house needed an update, and their front-of-house was struggling to keep up with demand.

As a Rescue Mission winner, Dragonfly Cafe can continue to grow and maximize its amazing team members with consultation from Jon Taffer, a complete SkyTab POS system, and $20,000 business grant.

Pip's Pub

Pip's Pub Launching a new business isn’t easy — but neither is turning one into a success. Sean and Nicole Swank, owners of Pip's Pub in Evansville, Indiana, have been putting their all into growing their family-owned business.

Located on the outskirts of town next to the interstate, Pip's Pub is an old-school diner surrounded by hotels and fast food, making it the only full-service restaurant in the area. At Pip's, the Swanks provide an “exciting yet relaxing atmosphere, a menu filled with classic and creative pub cuisine, popular brew selections, and a large outdoor deck.” While they’re seeing recent success in the business, it’s been tough making ends meet.

To help Pip's Pub become the success they know it can be, they’ve won a $20,000 business grant, a completely new SkyTab POS system. Plus, they get to meet with Jon Taffer for an in-person consultation.

Rock Lake Lodge & Campground

Rock Lake Lodge and Campground Everyone loves a fixer-upper. Jerry and Val Kook decided to get their hands dirty when they became owners of Rock Lake Lodge and Campground in Bloomer, Wisconsin. Not only does the property have 118 sites on its campground, but it also has a full-service restaurant and bar.

Since 2022, the Kooks have poured resources into critical improvements and ongoing restoration projects. Unfortunately, this has left them unable to focus on the customer experience they can provide.

With their Rescue Mission winnings, they can use the $20,000 business grant to help alleviate some of their struggles. With a complete SkyTab POS system, they can improve the experience of every customer. And, with the guidance of Jon Taffer, they can move into a successful future.

Comedy in Harlem

Comedy In Harlem Some businesses have great potential but lack the right resources to fulfil it. After 20+ years of experience as comedians, husband-and-wife duo Jamie Roberts and Nicky Sunshine now co-own Comedy In Harlem.

As New York’s only Black-owned comedy club, Comedy In Harlem provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for all who enter. The diverse club is committed to offering opportunities to the underrepresented, hosting nightly performances for the Latino and LGBTQ+ communities, seniors, and even children.

Unfortunately, the business is bogged down by debt due to a relocation. With their Rescue Mission winnings, Comedy In Harlem will be able to make critical improvements, from new kitchen equipment to better signage and menus. Thanks to their $20,000 grant, a new complete SkyTab POS system, and guidance from Jon Taffer, they’ll be able to turn their potential into success.

Kitty’s Cheesecakes & More

Kitty's Cheesecakes & More Rising costs and outdated equipment can be massive burdens for any small business. And that’s exactly why LaDawn, owner of Kitty’s Cheesecakes & More, has struggled to keep up.

This family-owned business in Ferndale, Michigan, has made it their mission to provide delectable, unique, and quality desserts in an inviting environment. Kitty’s Cheesecakes & More prioritizes their community, creating fun-flavored desserts with top-tier local ingredients.

Due to the increasing costs of ingredients, it’s been difficult for LaDawn to meet demand. Plus, her outdated POS system with high processing fees has made operations costly and inefficient.

Now, as a Rescue Mission winner, Kitty’s Cheesecakes & More will have the resources they need to alleviate some of these challenges. A brand-new SkyTab POS system will replace their current POS hardware, a $20,000 grant will ease the high-cost issues, and guidance from Jon Taffer will help lead them in the right direction.
